My beautiful Sister

The winner of the highest fundraiser prize was Natasha Lloyd Jones, my sister! This was a rather unexpected result which did cause some concern about possible "conflict of interest"

The money was counted and the winner announced by the Children's Cancer Institute, independently of myself or anyone from SBAR, so I was happy for Natasha to take the bike. She won it fair and square by working hard to get sponsorship from nearly every business in Bega. I think the truth is far more important than the possibility of false perceptions.

Although she had the option of keeping her prize, Natasha decided to raffle the bike in order to raise still more money for Child Cancer Research. I think it's very noble of her. It means the bike will go to a member of the Bega Community that supported her so well. Here are some photos of my wonderful sister from the day of the ride.

The Bolwell E-Cycle Company generously provided a prize for the highest fundraiser. Each rider collected sponsors from their friends and family for their ride. $10,953.80 was raised for child cancer research.

100% of money raised by SBAR goes to Childrens Cancer Institute Australia. None of the money raised was spent on the event itself.

The reward for the rider who collected the most sponsorship was an S7, shaft driven bicycle, the ultimate in cycling technology and the first of it's kind in Australia. It has no chain!

The prize bike was ridden by SBAR Model, Ms Rosa Lopez, who accompanied me at the head of the parade. Ms Lopez is one of those "can do" kind of people, she has jumped out of aeroplanes, travelled the world, and is also a single Mum working full time to support her kids. Rosa is one of the most brave and caring people I know. At the moment she is learning sign language!

Naturally everyone wanted to test out the S7 while Rosa was being painted. All the riders who got a chance to try the new bike gave it the thumbs up.

You can find out more about the S7 at
